Employee rights when employment ends

What to check in the final account: leave balance, recuperation pay, pension contributions, overtime and termination documents.

The final account

The end of employment is a time to review payslips, accrued leave, recuperation pay and fund contributions. Entitlement depends on factors including length of service, employment arrangements, the individual contract and applicable industry rules.

Contributions and working hours

Compare payslip figures with contributions actually received by the pension fund, managers’ insurance and, where applicable, the education fund. Attendance reports and personal records help assess overtime and working hours. Regular pay components may affect various calculations.

Documents and special arrangements

Request confirmation of the employment period, termination records and the necessary fund documents. Annual leave, sick leave and holidays follow different rules; not every unused balance is redeemable. Early termination of a fixed-term contract requires examination of both the agreement and the law.
