Compensation claims after a road accident

Who is entitled to compensation under the Road Accident Victims Compensation Law, which documents are needed and what happens when the accident is work-related.

Entitlement and injury

Bodily injury claims following a road accident are assessed under Israel’s Road Accident Victims Compensation Law and the applicable insurance conditions. Entitlement generally does not depend on proving another driver was at fault, but conditions and exceptions must be checked.

Documents needed for the claim

Medical records close to the accident, a police report, vehicle and insurance details, and employment and income documents help establish the claim. Keep records of expenses and assistance required because of the injury. Compensation may depend on medical limitations, occupation and the effect on earning capacity.

When the accident is work-related

An accident during work or on the journey to or from work may also require examination by the National Insurance Institute. The routes need to be coordinated, taking payments under each into account. Legal fees in qualifying road accident claims are subject to statutory rules and the stage at which the case concludes.
